benedict [adopt a lovey wednesday]

he would be quite the surprise to encounter on your front lawn.  but that’s where benedict, also known as benny, found himself prior to his current temporary home at the LANGLEY ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY.  benny’s a handsome  (+ big!) rooster that just wants to chillax.  he’s easy going with being touched and he’s been good around the dogs at the shelter, letting out the occasional cock a doodle.

if you’d love to give benny his forever [pet] home, please call LAPS at: 604-857-5055 and ask to speak to miss amy.  if you’re unable to adopt a rooster but want to help a big bird out, we would looove you for sharing him.

bubba gump [adopt a lovey wednesday]

he came in as a stray with hotspots, itchy skin and badly infected ears.  after several vet visits and a bout of antibiotics, bubba gump is on the mend at the LANGLEY ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY and is ready for his forever home.  and let me tell you, bubba is HILARIOUS.  if you want a big special friend in your life that will entice you to play and laugh and cuddle (which of course you do..?!!?), bubba is your man.  when we took bubba into the play yard, he quickly gravitated toward’s trav and was all like, “LET ME LOOOVE YOU.”  and he meant it.

bubba gump is a male, approximately 2 year old, 104 lb. st. bernard mix.  his idea of a perfect day is a meandering walk with lots of opportunities to sniff and a chance to tear around the play yard with his doggy friends. bubba has mastered sit and down but is more of a couch potato than a workhorse. he just doesn’t understand why people keep trying to get him to do tricks for treats.. he’d rather show of his a+ cuddling skills. he is wonderful with other dogs and has friends of all shapes and sizes and would enjoy a canine or feline sibling.  bubba loves people and is great at worming his way up to strangers for a kiss and a cuddle. however, he doesn’t really know his own strength and sometimes his enthusiasm gets the better of him, so a home with no small children is best for this fella.  also, to keep him healthy and comfortable, bubba will need to remain on a hypoallergenic diet for the rest of his life.

if you think you’re the loving home that bubba has been waiting for, please call LAPS at: 604-857-5055 and ask to speak to his awesome trainer, amy.  if you’re unable to adopt bubba bubba gump but want to help him find his mama//papa, we would looove you if you shared him.

cohen [adopt a lovey wednesday]

wandering in a rural area, he was picked up as a stray.  cohen has been at the LANGLEY ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY for a long 7+ months now.. and has stolen a bit of our hearts every time we pay a visit.   cohen is a gem.  an affectionate,  sweet, quirky and ridiculously smart gem.  honestly, if we didn’t have a cat i’d be thiiiiis close (my thumb + finger are pretty much touching) to making him a schulzie.

cohen is a 2 year old, male, border collie mix, weighing in at 55 lbs. of pure love.  he is happy and super friendly with people + dogs alike (he has a lot of puppy buddies at the shelter).  cohen is best suited for a home without cats and because he tends to resource guard his food, a home without children also.  as mentioned, cohen is a very clever  man..  in fact, he has been nicknamed ‘houdini’ because of his ability to escape.  he will need a mama//papa that is prepared to manage his tricky ways and able to provide leashed methods of releasing his energy, like taking him running.

if you think you could love cohen as much as he truly deserves, please go on and call LAPS at: 604-857-5055 and ask to speak to his awesome trainer, amy.  if you’re unable to adopt cohen but are loving on his sweet sweet spirit too, we would love if you shared him.

i’m not always a wang, but when i am, i use food to lure a dog to use trav’s face as a ladder.  then, i take a photograph, laugh and share said photograph publicly.  :)

axle [adopt a lovey wednesday]

a kind soul found him on the highway at 232nd in langley.  it was pitch black out and certainly not a safe place for a little dog to be.  axle was brought to the LANGLEY ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY about 3 weeks ago, wearing a black leather studded collar and a tad nervous.  nobody ever came for axle so we had the joy of getting his cute face in front of our cameras.  and oh my gosh, he’s hilarious.. axle ran, hopped, pranced, batted his big eyes for treats  and was not shy when requesting attention.  so much love.

axle is a miniature pinscher, approximately 6 years old + 14 lbs.  he is playful, full of prancing energy, clever and he looves other dogs + car rides.  and he would make a perfect jogging partner for the go-getter type.  axle will be quick to size you up and would do best with a dog experienced owner + no children.  if this little dude has you smitten, please go on and call LAPS at: 604-857-5055 and ask to speak to his awesome trainer, amy.  if you’re unable to adopt axle but adore his big round eyes too, we would love if you shared him.

porter II [adopt a lovey wednesday]

like last week, we are doing a repeat showing of an adoptable fur baby at the Langley Animal Protection Society.. PORTER!  the fact that porter has been at the shelter since november makes my heart heavy, especially because one of the first things trav + i said to one another when we met porter, was how much he reminded us of our beloved dog marley, our first dog together + our first ever rescue (we adopted him from LAPS!).  although marley looked nothing like porter; his energy, drive, incredible smarts and loving personality were all akin to who porter is.  and trust me when i tell you that a dog like this does not deserve to still be waiting for his forever family..

porter is approximately 3 years old (no house training.. woo!), 50 lbs, australian cattle dog X labrador retriever.  this boy has energy, passion and aims to please.  he is as happy as pie if you give him a job to do or a game to play; actually, he’d probably rock at dog sports.  he would do best with a confident adult owner, someone that will happily work with him to release that energy, as well as a home with without children + cats.

if porter strikes your curiosity, please go on and call LAPS at: 604-857-5055 and ask to speak to his wonderful trainer, gwen.  if you’re unable to adopt porter but that spark in his eyes melts your heart too, we would love if you shared him.
